During the Jurassic period much of the UK would have been under the ocean. That’s why marine fossils are more commonly found here. Long-necked Plesiosaurs would have shared the waters with belemnites, a kind of ancient squid and ammonites - the ubiquitous spiral-shaped fossil.

Belemnites were believed to be the earthly remains of lightning strikes. Called Thunderbolts or thunderstones. They were used as charms to ward off lightning.
